God Speaks...

God speaks to me in many different ways. Usually it is through His word...The Bible. Several years ago I had a friend say to me, "Has God ever spoke to you?" And of course my answer was yes. God speaks to me through His word, daily situations, preaching, prayer, music...there are so many ways. I am always inquiring and God is always speaking. Sometimes I am not listening! You can read, read, and read some more...pray, pray and pray some more...sing, sing, and sing some more and if your ears and heart are not open and ready to hear you won't. God sometimes does not answer...Well he does but the His answer is no, not now, not a good idea, not in my plans and you need to rethink your priorities.

The older I get the more I realize that I have to be patient and wait. Things are not always on my schedule they are on His schedule and in His time. In our fast paced microwaveable society we have everything going in fast forward and we must, must, must slow down and listen. I know there have been times when I just sped through, didn't listen, took on the job myself and then in the end paid the stupid tax. Daily I am saying to my girls, "Did you listen?" and they usually answer "well I thought that is what you said." They didn't slow down enough to get the details. God wants us to slow down and listen for His details. He is our Father and we need to slow down and let the details soak into us.

All of this to get to a request that I have been praying about for what seems now like an eternity.
Many stressed days and sleepless nights. Many days wrenching my hands and wondering why God is not answering. Me, me, me why can't or will you answer me. Well yesterday after many hours, days, weeks and months I was in the shower praying (sorry if tmi) and a peace came over me that was amazing. God spoke!!!! It wasn't about me it was about Him and His perfect timing. Wow!

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. - Psalm 46:1

"Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" - Psalm 46:10

Slow down, listen and soak up His powerful, wonderful, loving words today.

God is so Good!

I enjoyed reading your post today. Very uplifting for us to just wait upon God and listen for Him and not be so rushed going through our daily lives!!! Thanks for the scriptures!

Thank you for this timely post, dear Debbie. I have been working through some things and keep trying to write about it on my blog and the words just won't come. I guess it's not time, but today your words spoke like I've wanted mine to. Thank you for sharing.

May you be blessed today, friend!

~Sara

Debbie-
I know it's hard to wait for God's timing rather than our own. I didn't have many readers/followers yet when I posted this:

It was a hard post for me to make. I've been "pruned" so much these last few months there are times I feel like a stump!

I'll be praying for you!
